Air Monitoring Technician

Background

Greenaction for Health and Environmental Justice and the Marie Harrison Bayview Air Monitoring (MHBAM) Steering Committee seeks to hire a part-time Air Monitoring Technician in the Bayview Hunters Point Community located in the heavily industrialized and residential southeast sector of San Francisco CA.

The technician will train and work with Greenaction for Health and Environmental Justice, MHBAM steering committee and Comite Civico Del Valle (CCV) to implement the Identifying Violations Affecting Neighborhoods (IVAN) Air Network and its air quality monitoring applications.

Hours and Wage

Training is paid and about 6 hours long. The technician will be working approximately 10 hours a week at $24/ hour. ***The installation of the monitors may not happen for several months, so the technician’s work will not start right away after training.

Job Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting and repair of 10 community air monitors in Bayview Hunters Point should they malfunction
  • Performing routine maintenance of air monitors
  • Maintain a regular log of the maintenance and troubleshooting of the community network
  • Training on the maintenance and operations of monitoring technology will be provided

Qualifications

  • High School diploma
  • Fast learner
  • Bayview Hunters Point/Little Hollywood legacy resident
  • Ability to work outdoors and to work safely at heights
  • Comfortable with computers and following simple software directions
  • Understanding of wireless technology
  • Ability to work independently when out in the field
