Volunteer with LEJ!
Our conservation and restoration projects on the southeast bayfront shoreline depend on hundreds of volunteers every year — come join us!
Monthly LEJ Volunteer Opportunities:
Plants Gone Wild Native Plants Nursery
First Saturday of every month, 10 am – 2 pm
Nursery volunteers grow native plant stock for restoration projects in Candlestick Point State Recreation Area and Heron's Head Park, and help out with special projects.
Wear appropriate clothing; gloves and tools provided. All ages welcome. For more information, contact Nursery Manager Patrick Rump.
Directions: The nursery is at 1150 Carroll Ave. (Ranger Station); take Muni #29 to the Gilman Playground stop. Follow Gilman toward the stadium and make a left on Aurelious Walker, which loops around and becomes Carroll Ave. Click for Map.
Heron's Head Park
Second Saturday of each month, 9 am – noon
Park volunteers plant seedlings, remove invasives, and built up wildlife habitat.
Wear appropriate clothing; gloves, boots, and tools are provided. All ages welcome. For more information, contact HHP Manager Myla Ablog .
Directions: Take Muni #19 and get off at Jennings St. Cross the road and walk a block toward the Bay on Jennings St., past the old power plant. You will arrive at Heron's Head Park on your right. Click for Map.
EcoCenter Barn-Raisings
We are hosting special community workparties to install key features of the Ecocenter at Heron's Head Park— LEJ's new landmark environmental education facility and SF's first 100% off-grid building. Watch this space for details!
